Online psychological consultation

Online consultation follows the same clinical structure as an in-person appointment: an initial consultation, assessment and formulation, agreed therapeutic work, and periodic review of progress. Sessions are scheduled in advance and conducted privately by video.

Online work suits many people well, particularly where travel is difficult or where attending a clinic in person raises privacy concerns. It is less suitable in some situations — for example where risk is significant or where a concern requires in-person assessment. This is discussed openly at the first appointment.

Preparing for an online session

• Choose a private room where you will not be interrupted for the session length.
• Use a stable internet connection, with headphones if others are nearby.
• Have water and a notebook to hand; some sessions include between-session tasks.
• Join a few minutes early so technical issues do not reduce session time.

Who online sessions are for

Clients based anywhere in Pakistan, overseas Pakistanis, and international clients where it is professionally appropriate. Because professional regulation of psychological practice differs between countries, suitability for clients living outside Pakistan is confirmed individually before therapy begins.
