A first session is an opportunity to understand your concerns and decide whether the therapeutic approach feels suitable. You do not need to arrive with a perfect explanation.

The initial conversation

You may be asked what brought you, how long the concern has been present, what affects it and what you would like to change. Relevant background is explored at a manageable pace.

Your questions matter

You can ask about confidentiality, session format, frequency, fees and the proposed approach. A clear professional conversation should help you make an informed decision.

What happens next

If you decide to continue, goals and a preliminary plan are agreed. These are reviewed as understanding develops; therapy is not a fixed programme applied to everyone.

A considered next step

If this topic reflects your experience, an individual consultation can consider it in the context of your circumstances.
